do88 performance cooler for the intercooler system, developed for easy drop-in installation in your BMW M2C / M3 / M4 F8X

The S55 turbo engine that powers the BMW M2C / M3 / M4 F8X uses a top-mounted water-cooled intercooler instead of a "normal" air-cooled intercooler. The coolant in this system has its own separate cooling circuit, which consists of two coolers connected in parallel and a pump. The larger of these two coolers connected in parallel is positioned at the front in the middle cooling module, the second smaller one is in front of the right wheel arch.

A reduction in the water temperature in this circuit is directly equivalent to improved cooling of the charge air (lower IAT). For this reason, it is important to have powerful coolers in this system in order to get the lowest and most stable IAT possible in tough driving conditions. In all the tests that we carried out during the development of our entire BMW F8X M2C / M3 / M4 product range, we clearly see how the peak performance is directly equated with the IAT (Intake Air Temperature).

When designing our upgrade performance cooler, we started with a 3D scan of the front of the middle cooling module of our M3 Competition. This gave us an exact 3D model of the available space in which to expand the core. As this cooler is positioned at the front of the middle cooling module, we have optimized the front surface / thickness / fin specifications to maximize cooling performance, but in the meantime to allow enough air to flow through for the other cooling components behind it. It is crucial to design a cooler positioned in front of others with the system in mind, rather than just optimizing one part and letting the others overheat due to insufficient airflow.

Our final design is a 32mm thick single row core with multi-channel tubes. We kept the OE style double flow layout which allows the coolant to flow through the core twice before exiting the radiator. Our design increases the core height by 166 mm and the thickness by 5 mm, which leads to an overall increase in the front surface by 48% and the core volume by a massive 75%.

These improvements resulted in a 5 ° C reduction in IAT in our tests when combined with our side-mounted cooler upgrade.

All of this hard work results in a product that, in one way or another, really boosts the performance of your vehicle, whether it's a standard vehicle or a heavily modified monster! On the racetrack, on the street, on the strip, this cooler will be your loyal companion!

Significant advantages of the do88 cooler:
- Larger core volume: 8498cm3 (4843cm3), 75% larger!
- Larger frontal surface: 2656cm2 (1794cm2), 48% larger!
- Lower air temperature after the intercooler under the same conditions: 34 ° C (39 ° C), 5 ° C lower! *
- Highly efficient core with 7mm fin height in multi-fin design.
- Multi-channel core tubes.
* Measured at 240km / h during full throttle acceleration from 0-240km / h on the air strip. Both tests were carried out on the same day under the same conditions.
