The S55 turbo engine from the BMW M2C, M3 and M4 F8x uses plastic charge air pipes on both the hot and the cold side. These pipes are a huge weak point on any tuned car, in some cases even on the originals. The OE plastic pipes burst, causing boost pressure leaks.
With our performance intercooler tubes we offer a solution to the problem and at the same time optimize the air flow!
To get an accurate 3D model of the space available to construct our intercooler tubes, we made a detailed 3D scan of our M3 Competition engine bay. With the help of this 3D scan model, we were able to design new 2.25 ″ (57 mm) intercooler tubes with smooth routing.
Installing pipes as large as 2.25 "(57 mm) is challenging because there is not that much space between the engine cover and valve cover. Many aftermarket intercooler tubes make it impossible to properly snap the engine cover grommets onto their locking pins. We solved this problem through our design of this tube and by adding longer OE style locking tubes for the engine cover.
We chose not to put methanol injector fittings on our intercooler tubes as we think it is better to have these after the intercooler. Our intercooler throttle body (J-pipe) has 2 methanol injector connections.
Our final design is an all-aluminum construction with mandrel bent tubes and CNC machined turbo flanges. We also supply more durable silicone hoses that connect our pipes to the intercooler inlet flanges. For a cool, inconspicuous look, matt black hose clamps are included.
